Our Standards of Care

At Rowan Animal Clinic, we are committed to providing high-quality veterinary care in a professional, compassionate environment. To ensure the best possible experience for your pet and all clients, we’ve outlined our Standards of Care below. These guidelines help our team deliver timely, safe, and effective care for every patient.

Appointments & Scheduling

To allow ample time for all patients and scheduled surgical procedures, we operate primarily by appointment. Arrival of 10 minutes or more after the scheduled appointment time may result in an extended wait and assessment of a late fee. Emergency cases shall always receive top priority, which is why occasional appointment delays are inevitable. Please realize that we make a sincere attempt to see each client on time.

We do accept walk-ins on a daily basis but there can be an extended wait since we work these patients in between scheduled appointments. Please note, if you walk-in or your pet needs to be seen same-day and we do not have an available appointment, your pet will be worked in between appointments as an Urgent Care Exam ($110). If your pet is seen on an emergency basis, an Emergency Exam fee ($165) will be assessed.

We understand that unforeseen events sometimes result in cancelling an appointment late. If you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment, we require 2-hours notice in order to avoid a late cancellation fee for each applicable appointment. As a courtesy, we make every attempt to confirm and remind you of your scheduled appointment by sending emails, push notifications, text messages, and when time allows, reaching out via phone call, therefore, any associated late appointment, late cancellation, or no show fees will not be waived.

Patient Arrival

For your protection, and that of others, all dogs must be on a leash and properly controlled while in the waiting area or exam rooms.

All cats must be presented in an appropriate cat carrier or on a leash. Even though we make every effort to make our patients feel comfortable during visits, they may be a little uneasy about new people, new surroundings and other pets. This is one of the reasons we ask you to restrain your pet. We recommend that animals be placed on a leash or in pet carriers before entering the waiting room.

Vaccination

For the health of all animals in our care for an extended period of time, all pets must be up-to-date on their vaccinations or have them updated during their time with us.

For pets coming in for surgical procedures or to board with us, vaccinations MUST be up-to-date or updated at least one week prior to the scheduled appointment or reservation. Vaccines must be administered by a licensed veterinarian.

Payment and Financing

Rowan Animal Clinic does not receive external funding, so payment is required at the time services are rendered. Before any procedure, we will provide an estimate so you understand the expected costs. While estimates are carefully prepared, actual charges may vary if unforeseen complications occur.

We accept the following payment options:

  • Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express

  • Cash

  • Personal checks

  • Cherry Financing financing — click here to learn more about this option.

  • Payment arrangements through charitable organizations may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Charitable Organization Payment

Groups, such as the Humane Society, will call and give parameters about payment for pets that they are helping. No services will be provided above and beyond what they agree upon without verbal permission made to a team member from a group decision-maker. Permission to treat and confirmation of payment will be confirmed by a team member with any non-profit organization that is helping a client before an appointment is made. An estimate will be provided to the owner with the understanding that they will be responsible for the remaining balance.

Why These Standards Matter

These care standards help us provide a safe, organized, and respectful veterinary experience for every pet and family we serve. By setting clear expectations for appointments, safety, vaccinations, and payment, we can focus on what matters most — delivering exceptional care and support for your companion.
